Wild Science recently attended the National Flying-Fox Forum hosted by the Environment Institute of Australia & NZ. Government agencies, land managers and others met to explore issues around flying-fox management and conservation. Updates were delivered by state environment departments from Queensland, NSW, Victoria and South Australia as well as a national update delivered by Ross Rowe from Department of Environment and Energy. Dr David Westcott from CSIRO provided a progress report on the Flying-fox ecology and managing human-flying-fox conflict project. Further topics and discussions centred around managing community perceptions of flying-fox camp management, education to mitigate human/flying-fox conflict and other current research. |
